Get Ready for Eid Al Fitr – Prayer Timings Across UAE Unveiled
As Ramadan fades, excitement grows for Eid Al Fitr as prayer times are announced across the UAE…
As Ramadan wraps up, people in the UAE gear up for Eid Al Fitr. Families look forward to celebrating with prayers, delicious food, and quality time together.
The Moon sighting committee will meet on Monday evening to look for the crescent moon. If they see it, Eid will start on April 9. If not, it will begin on April 10.
Eid begins with special congregational prayers at mosques and outdoor prayer areas called musallahs, which occur shortly after sunrise.
Below are the prayer timings across different Emirates, as authorities have announced:
- Dubai: The Eid prayer is set for 6:20 am as revealed by the Islamic Affairs and Charitable Activities Department.
- Sharjah: Mosques and outdoor prayer areas will have the prayer at 6:17 am, as per the Islamic Affairs Department’s calendar.
- Ajman and Umm Al Quwain: Prayer timings in these Emirates align with Sharjah at 6:17 am.
- Ras Al Khaimah and Fujairah: In these Emirates, prayers start a bit later, at 6:15 am.
- Abu Dhabi: In Abu Dhabi city, it will be held at 6:22 am, and in Al Ain, at 6:15 am, as per the Islamic Hijri calendar published by the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque Centre.
It’s best to go to the mosques right after you pray Fajr.
During the Eid prayer, everyone gathers together. The Imam guides everyone through two units (raka’ah) of prayer. First, we say multiple takbirs, then recite surah Fatiha and another chapter from the Quran. In the second unit, we also say multiple takbirs. At the end of the prayer, the Imam delivers a two-part sermon, which is good to listen to. Then, we hug each other and exchange “Eid Mubarak” greetings before commencing the day’s celebrations.
