Sharjah Public Library Receives Dh2.5 Million Boost from Ruler’s Grant

Sharjah Library’s shelves are about to get a Dh2.5 million makeover…

In a generous move by Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, the Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, the Sharjah Public Library has been awarded a huge boost. He’s giving them Dh2.5 million to buy new books at the Sharjah Children’s Reading Festival. (SCRF 2024).

The grant given annually to the Sharjah Book Authority (SBA) event serves to enrich the library’s collection with new books from various publishers and sellers participating in the festival. It aligns with Sheikh Dr. Sultan’s vision to enhance the global book industries and elevate Sharjah’s resources for readers, students, researchers, and knowledge seekers.

Sheikha Bodour bint Sultan Al Qasimi, Chairperson of the SBA, expressed heartfelt gratitude for the Ruler’s support, underlining the significant message it carries. She emphasized:

“The initiative underlines Sharjah’s belief that the realization of both our present and future goals are dependent on how successfully we are able to foster an appreciation of books, knowledge and learning in our younger generations. The roots of development and our envisioned cultural growth are firmly secured in our libraries”.
