Excitement is building in the UAE as the government has shared the expected holiday dates for Eid Al Fitr in 2024. Although the official dates will be confirmed closer to the time through Moon-sightings, here’s a sneak peek into what could be an impressive break.

Eid Al Fitr holidays are usually observed from Ramadan 29 to Shawwal 3 in the Islamic calendar. If Eid falls on April 10, 2024, then get ready for a mini-vacation starting from Tuesday, April 9 (Ramadan 29) to Friday, April 12 (Shawwal 3) according to the Gregorian calendar. That’s a potential four-day break, and if you tack on the weekend afterward, you’re looking at a luxurious six days off.

Here’s how the holiday will work in both situations:

  • If Ramadan is 30 days long: The Eid al-Fitr break is from Monday, April 8 (Ramadan 29), till Friday, April 12 (Shawwal 3). When you add in the weekends before and after the break, that gives you a whopping nine days off. So, the break stretches from Saturday, April 6, to Sunday, April 14.
  • If Ramadan is 29 days long: In this case, residents will enjoy a six-day break, including the weekend. The Eid break goes from Monday, April 8 (Ramadan 29), to Thursday, April 11. If you count the Saturday-Sunday weekend before the break, that’s a total of six days off. The break spans from Saturday, April 6, to Thursday, April 11.

Hold on, though—here’s expert advice for people who wish to take a longer vacation.

Take Monday (April 8) off from work to make this holiday a fantastic nine-day celebration.

So, here are the expected dates for Eid ul Fitr in 2024:

  • Tuesday, April 9 (Ramadan 29)
  • Wednesday, April 10 (Shawwal 1)
  • Thursday, April 11 (Shawwal 2)
  • Friday, April 12 (Shawwal 3)

It’s time to mark your calendars, save the dates, and start planning for what could be the ultimate holiday experience!
