Conrad Dubai’s Green Ramadan Celebrations

Unlocking Conrad Dubai’s Green Ramadan Surprise…

At Conrad Dubai, Ramadan takes on a whole new vibe with Green Ramadan, an initiative dedicated to spreading eco-awareness and mindful living. This year, they’re stepping it up a notch by reintroducing their cutting-edge hydroponic farm and treating guests to the exclusive Al-Wāha Experience. It’s a Ramadan celebration you won’t find anywhere else.

Forget soil—the hydroponic farm grows its plants using water full of nutrients. It’s like gardening, but with a futuristic twist. This way of growing plants is super modern and gets more crops faster while using way less water. And the best part? The farm is smack dab in the middle of the city, proving how amazing sustainable farming can be.

Why Sustainable Agriculture Matters?

Have you ever thought about why sustainable agriculture matters? because that’s how we take care of our planet. And Conrad Dubai’s hydroponic farm is leading the charge in showing us how to do it right.

By ditching soil and trying out new methods, Conrad Dubai is not only giving us delicious produce but also reducing pollution and showing us a smarter way to farm. It’s a win-win for both our taste buds and the Earth.

They aren’t just paying lip service—they’re walking the talk. By sourcing ingredients locally and organically, supporting nearby farmers, and reducing the carbon footprint of every meal, they’re leading the charge for a healthier planet.

And the best part? Green Ramadan isn’t exclusive to a select few. It’s for everyone! Conrad Dubai is opening its doors wide, hosting workshops and events to educate and inspire people to make a difference. Victory from 2023 to 2024:

In 2023, Hilton’s ‘Green Ramadan’ Campaign made a big impact. Now, Conrad Dubai teams up again with UNEP West Asia and Winnow to cut food waste this Holy Month. They’re using Hilton’s ‘Travel with Purpose’ plan, UNEP West Asia’s ‘Recipe of Change’ campaign, and Winnow’s AI tech to track waste better. Last year, across three Hilton hotels, they slashed food waste by 61%, stopping almost 4.8 tonnes of waste and over 14 tonnes of CO2 emissions while serving 8,600 meals. They get all ingredients locally and in-season, pushing for more plant-based meals and less meat.

Conrad Dubai’s Green Ramadan plan includes lots of eco-friendly actions. They compost with The Waste Lab, give food to the UAE Food Bank, use AI to measure food waste with Winnow, and team up with local charities to share extra food. This shows how serious Conrad Dubai is about being green and cutting down on their carbon footprint.

Emma Banks, VP, F&B, EMEA, Hilton said:

“As a globalhospitality brand, Hilton has a responsibility to lead the industry in the pursuit of sustainable solutions. We are delighted to embrace the holy month of Ramadan with the introduction of the Green Ramadan initiative.

Our partner, Winnow, will play a crucial role in this digital-first approach by collecting food waste data and usingit to inform our local procurement requirements while working closely with our partner Goumbook to ensure an educated approach towards the implemented sustainable practices.”

Sami Dimassi, UNEP representative and regional director,West Asia, said:

“We are very pleased to collaborate with Hilton to activate this campaign across its key markets in the Middle East. Reducing food waste is not only about saving food, butalso about saving resources.

The only way forward is to work hand-in-hand by engaging the local community, private sector, and influencers. Today, every plate counts and so does every wasted plate. Let us all fight food waste and work towards a more sustainable future.”

Tatiana Antonelli, Founder and MD, Goumbook, said:

“We are thrilled to collaborate with Hilton on their Green Ramadan initiative alongside UNEP West Asia and Winnow.

With food waste almost doubling in the holy month of Ramadan, there is a great opportunity to raise awareness and spotlight the benefits of local sourcing and food waste management.

As we look forward to COP28 happening in the Middle East later in 2023, this is our chance to address the need to instill change and drive action.”

Marc Zornes, CEO and Co-Founder, Winnow said:

“Winnow is delighted to partner with Hilton, UNEP West Asia and Goumbook on this initiative during Ramadan.

Food waste is an important area of interest for the region from a social and environmental perspective. Our intention is for this collaboration to be underpinned by real-world data and behavioural science, offering a playbook for the industry to tackle food waste.”
